PVA Commercial Modules for OpenText Products

EIM 1

PVA has developed several Commercial Modules to enhance the functionality of OpenText Content Server (formerly “Livelink”):

  • The Virus Scan Integration Module (Virus Scan) can keep viruses out of your repository.   Content Server itself is not in danger of becoming infected from the files stored in its library; however, it might become the medium through which viruses are spread to other client computers.  Virus Scan uses the command-line scanning capability of your anti-virus software to provide real-time detection and blocking of infected documents. When a document is loaded into Content Server via Add Document, Drag-and-Drop, Enterprise Connect, Tempo Box, or any standard LAPI connection, Virus Scan scans the temporary copy on the Internet server.  If a virus is detected, it prevents the file upload and displays an error message to the user.  Virus Scan can also scan the existing files in the repository, and will quarantine any infected files it finds.  Batch scanning can be scheduled during off-hours to minimize interference with regular operations.  Virus Scan FAQ
  • The PDF Toolkit is a bundle of PDF tools: the PVA Watermark module, the AppendPDF module, and the FDFMerge module.  These tools can be purchased separately.
    • Watermark integrates Appligent StampPDF™ software, or the Open Text Electronic Signatures (eSign) module, with Content Server to automatically watermark PDF documents.  Watermark allows users to dynamically stamp the pages of a PDF document in Content Server with any kind of watermarks – page numbers, dates, disclaimers, Content Server attributes, etc. – in multiple styles, colors, and positions.  Users create plain text configuration files that specify how the module will apply watermarks to individual PDF files, or to all PDF files in a specified folder.  It installs in your Content Server system just like any Open Text module.  The Open Text Renditions module is required for Watermark to function properly.
    • AppendPDF integrates with Appligent AppendPDF™ software to allow users to create a single PDF file from multiple PDF files in a controlled order. The module maintains the relationship of the master and the components, and can be regenerated if any of the components have been changed.
    • FDFMerge integrates the Appligent FDFMerge™ software with Content Server workflow forms.  This integration module gives Content Server the ability to convert a Workflow Form into a PDF document and store that document within the repository.
  • iTrashcan allows users to recover any deleted Content Server objects. This module has several options including: scheduled purging of the iTrashcan, individual user iTrashcans, browsing and searching the contents of the iTrashcan, etc.
  • The Extranet Security module allows a Content Server software system to be used in an extranet environment, while preventing unauthorized access to documents and Content Server User information by external users. This module has three main purposes:
    1. To allow multiple partners access without the knowledge of the other partners’ user profiles.
    2. To prevent “guests” of a project from viewing all the project participants.
    3. To prevent the accidental publication of sensitive information to a “public” area.
  • The Workflow Toolkit is a set of workflow tools designed to make workflows more usable and simpler to manage.  These tools can be purchased separately.
    • Automatic Date Assignment sets the start and due dates of a workflow task via a form entry, allowing for greater flexibility in managing a varying workflow process.
    • Email User Task sends emails to non-Content Server users via the workflow with the option of sending the workflow attachments as email attachments.
    • Workflow Data Archive is a set of tools that convert workflow data into a document format so that it can be retained outside the scope of the workflow.
    • Timer Step adds a new workflow step that is time-based instead of the standard event-based step. This step can be used in series between two other steps to create a “wait” time, or it can be placed in parallel with another step to perform escalation processes if the associated step has not been completed.
    • Subworkflow Launcher allows the launching of independent child workflows from a parent workflow.
    • Loop Counter Scripts adds an increment and decrement counter event script to be used to control loop back processes.
  • HealthScan is a set of reporting functions to help Administrators identify and clean up Workflows, Repository Objects, and Users and Groups areas.  In addition, it can aid in understanding object usage and activity profiles for the repository.
  • Ad Hoc Query enables users to create their own custom LiveReports in a read-only environment without requiring SQL programming.
  • Category SQL Extension allows users to save the Category/Attribute data in a normalized database table structure to support reporting and other SQL queries of attribute data.
